Perast, with its rich maritime heritage, radiates through the centuries. This landscape-rich city, facing the sea since its earliest days, reached its peak in the 17th and 18th centuries when Perast ships began to conquer the world's oceans. Additionally, the reputable maritime school in Perast was the first address for the education of young nobles, and numerous famous buildings date back to this period of prosperity.
The city's structure is simple but charming. The main street runs along the coast, while stairs lead to different parts of the city. The central square, surrounded by the impressive church of St. Nicholas with a 55-meter high bell tower, dominates the cityscape. Although the triple-nave church was never completed due to lack of funds, today its unfinished part houses precious artifacts and a museum, adding another layer of Perast's rich history!
